Welcome to the Department of Chemistry in School of Pharmacy. The Department of Chemistry was based on the Chemistry Teaching and Research Section in the 1950s and merged into School of Pharmacy in July 2003. At present, the Department has 14 faculty members, 1 professor (master's supervisor), 6 associate professors, 6 lecturers, and 1 laboratory technician. Among the faculty members, 8 have doctoral degrees, 6 have master's degrees, and 5 had overseas study experience.

The Department of Chemistry is a dynamic, growing department with faculty dedicated to providing quality education for all undergraduates. We offer courses including Basic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Medical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical English for undergraduates majoring in medicine, pharmacy and other related disciplines. Basic Chemistry has been rated as the school-level quality course and Organic Chemistry has been rated as an ideological and political model course and the first-class course in the university.

Based on the Chaoxing teaching platform, we combine the online teaching platform with traditional teaching models to build a diversified hybrid teaching model. We combine classroom teaching with flipped classroom, problem-based discussion, and online interaction to stimulate students’ passion for study and cultivate their critical thinking. We have created nearly 10 online courses providing students with comprehensive studying materials, rich micro-course videos for students’ self-study and extensive study. The courses have been rated as excellent online courses by the university for six consecutive years.

Since 2010, we have undertaken or participated in more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, published more than 90 SCI or EI papers, and edited or participated in the editing of over 20 textbooks. Meanwhile, we have also undertaken 25 teaching and research reform projects, published more than 50 teaching and research papers, and won 18 teaching awards. We have guided students to participate in experimental skills competitions and won 6 national awards and 11 provincial awards; and guided students to participate in 14 provincial college student innovation practical training plans.
