Department of Medicinal Chemistry was established in 2015. The department has 3 professors, 7 associate professors and 2 lecturers (all of them have doctorates). Three of them are doctoral supervisor, and five of them are master supervisors. The department authorize both master degree and PhD degree in Medicinal chemistry.

Medicinal Chemistry is a discipline with a traditional focus on organic synthetic chemistry with the broad goals of drug discovery and optimization. Our faculty members are passionate in teaching and research, and zealous in training students to master the basic knowledge and experimental skills of medicinal chemistry discipline. We sincerely hope that our students become excellent pharmacy professionals with the goal of improving human health.

The Department undertakes the teaching of relevant compulsory courses (Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Reactions for Drug Synthesis, et al) for undergraduates and elective courses (Drug Design, Artificial Intelligence in Drug Design, et al) for postgraduates.

The special research interests in the department include “development of drug candidates for treating neuropsychiatric disorders”, “development of new drugs for treating malignant tumor”, et al. Several original drug candidate molecules (ZL006, ZL006-05, ZLc-002, ZZL-7, et al), which designed and synthesized by the department, have been published in internationally renowned academic journals such as Science, Nature Medicine, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, et al. Among them, ZL006-05 as a novel small molecule PSD-95/nNOS uncoupling agent has entered clinical trials for treating stroke and post-stroke depression. We are committed to developing innovative new medicines for the development of Healthy China and the health of the Chinese people.
